ADAS Calibration Becomes a Standard Requirement, Not an Add-On

Windshield swaps, alignments, and collision repairs now trigger mandatory sensor recalibration—turning calibration rigs into essential workshop infrastructure.

Advanced driver-assistance systems have quietly become one of the most consequential shifts in vehicle repair. Cameras, radar, and lidar sensors govern everything from lane-keeping to automatic braking, and even minor repairs can knock them out of alignment.

Everyday jobs now require calibration. Replacing a windshield, performing a wheel alignment, or repairing a bumper can all disturb sensor geometry. Skipping recalibration is no longer acceptable—it is a safety and liability issue.

Static and dynamic methods. Static calibration uses targets and rigs in a controlled bay; dynamic calibration requires a road drive with a connected scan tool. Full-service shops increasingly need both capabilities to cover the vehicle mix on the road.

A high-margin opportunity. Dedicated calibration equipment carries strong margins and recurring demand. Suppliers offering turnkey rigs, target sets, and training are finding eager buyers among body shops and general repair centers alike.

The message for the industry is clear: calibration has moved from a specialty service to baseline infrastructure that every modern workshop must plan for.
